Although we are able to customise tours to suit clients’ requirements the following is a typical example of a one day tour to Ladysmith, Spionkop, Wagon Hill and the Platrand:

Providing this trip is undertaken on a weekday or a Saturday we can include the Siege Museum in Ladysmith, which is quite fascinating. If it is on a Sunday we have to substitute with one of the other sites.

08h00 - Depart Newcastle

09h30 – Arrive Siege Museum in Ladysmith. This is a self guided tour but our guide will be present for any questions you may have.

11h00 – Depart Siege Museum for Spion Kop

11h45 – Arrive on Spion Kop. Tour Battlefield and listen to our guide tell you what took place in what must surely have been one of the most fruitless and bloodiest battles of the War.

13h30 – Picnic Lunch

14h00 – Depart Spion Kop

15h00 – Arrive Platrand and visit the Burgher Monument, Fort Manchester and Wagon Hill where our guide will tell you about the Battle of Wagon Hill on 6th January 1900

16h30 – Depart Platrand for Newcastle

18h00 – Arrive Newcastle.

This trip is roughly 280km of which rough 30 is on a dirt road.
